Unlocking the data opportunity

“Competitive advantage is rooted in our ability to see what nobody else can.”

Data is influencing an increasing amount of our decisions. How do we make sure we have the data we need and how do we get the data we’re missing?

Our decisions are limited to the data, insights and experience available to us (1). At the same time competitive advantage is rooted in our ability to see what nobody else can (2)(3).

How do we know what data we need to make better decisions helping us better serve our customers, deliver desired outcomes, increase operational efficiency, gain competitive advantage etc.?

Step 1: A shared (aligned) understanding

Using a mix of available online research, Large Language Models and own research we can establish a view of the ecosystem we want to be part of / influence.

In the model we’ve used Perplexity to identify the most significant influences to a physicians decision making and how these relate to each other.

This view helps the cross-functional team develop a shared understanding of what the ecosystem looks like, identify own and shared opportunities with other departments and coordinate efforts.

Step 2: Strategy and the data opportunity

In the second step the team identifies their most important areas of influence where they want to make a difference (purple dots).

The the team maps the data they have (green dots) and the data they need (yellow dots).

Now in one map the team has a shared overview of where they want to act, they can see what data they have which they need (or don’t need), and they can see the data they are missing which they need to start working on.
